If you’re looking for things to do with the family, here is a super simple recipe for homemade dog biscuits that even I can manage! They are inexpensive to make, and your canine pals will go crazy for the peanut butter flavor. My pooch Fletch thinks I’m a culinary genius. Enjoy!

Ingredients:
2 cups whole wheat flour
• If your dog has a wheat allergy; substitute all-purpose flour

1 cup toasted wheat germ

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• Do NOT substitute. Some spices (such as nutmeg) are toxic to dogs

3/4 cup water

1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
• Use all natural peanut butter only. Some peanut butters contain Xylitol (a sweetener which is highly toxic to dogs)

1 large egg

2 tablespoons canola oil

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°.

Combine flour, wheat germ and cinnamon. Stir in remaining ingredients.

On a floured surface, roll dough to 1/4-in. thickness. Cut with any shape cookie cutter you have in the kitchen. To make it easier, use a pizza cutter and make 1”x 3” long strips instead of the bone shape. Much faster with less rolling

Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake until bottoms are lightly browned (tops may crack), 30-35 minutes. Cool on a wire rack. Store in an airtight container.
