There are so many amazing Independence Day celebrations across Boston and the South Shore, but most pets don’t share our love of fireworks!

Did you know…more pets get lost on July 4 than any other day of the year? (Home Again , 2017) How sad!

To keep everyone safe this holiday, keep these tips in mind:

-Be sure your dog is wearing an up to date ID tag at all times

-Take a current photo of your dog just in case he/she gets lost

-Exercise your dog early in the day before parties begin

-Keep your dog away from the flames during cook outs

-Keep charcoal, fireworks, sparklers, and glow sticks far away from curious canines

-Leave your dog at home in a safe place (crate, bedroom) with a frozen treat during fireworks

-If your dog is afraid of loud noises consider leaving on soft music or white noise to help drown out the sound of fireworks

If you’re traveling or planning a long day of celebrations for the 4th of July, give us a call. We can check on your dog, take them on a mid-day walk, and then leave them safely at home, all tired out and waiting for you to come home.
